Not sure which certificate?
Most filings need a Class 3 signature certificate. Tenders need signature + encryption, and DGFT needs its own certificate.

Class 3 and DGFT digital signature certificates
A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the electronic form of your signature. Class 3 is the highest assurance level in India. Certificates are issued by Certifying Authorities licensed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) and are legally valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Which certificate do you need?
-
Class 3
For GST and income tax returns, MCA (ROC) forms, EPFO, trademark, ICEGATE and e-tender filings. Issued to an individual or an organization, for 1, 2 or 3 years.
-
DGFT
For importers and exporters signing on the DGFT portal. Issued to an organization, as a signature certificate, for 1 or 2 years.
-
Signature, encryption or both
Most people only need a signature certificate. Tender portals also ask for encryption, which keeps your bid confidential until it is opened, so choose both for them.
